Last week I attended the fourth annual Canadian History & Environment Summer School in Ottawa, Ontario at St. Paul University. The weekend event was excellent. I had only been to the first CHESS in Toronto previously and found that to be a great opportunity to get to meet environmental historians from across the country. This event was even better. There was a perfect balance of research presentations, round-table panels, small group discussion, and, of course, field trips.
